6 Easy Solutions for Healing Acne Scars!

According to the British Skin Foundation, 7 in 10 people in the UK have visible scars from a skin condition, with 60% of the population as a whole having suffered from a skin disease at some point. A high percentage of those people have little to no idea about how to treat these scars, and whether or not they simply disappear naturally.

It'd be a fair assumption to say that if you're reading this blog, you probably fit into that percentage...
So I’ve gathered some facts and tips around acne scars to help you finally feel good in your own skin.
Life is busy, and so are you. You may not have much time to focus on skin care, and that's why you need simple ways to treat scarring.

When we ask:

"do acne scars disappear naturally?",

we assume that means without treatment. We assume it means:

"do acne scars disappear without me doing anything?"

There is no short answer to this question as this often varies between person. Despite this, it is possible for acne marks to fade without any type of treatment. Typically, if this is the case, mild marks will fade within 3 to 6 months. If you find that your marks are more severe, and they haven't faded within this period of time, it may be due to collagen damage that they won't disappear naturally (without any help!). Not to worry though, there are indeed ways of helping the healing process naturally (with natural ingredients!), and for this, it is important to know how and why.

How to treat

So how do you treat already existing acne scars that have not yet faded? Acne scars are produced when constant outbreaks on the skin reoccur in the same place, causing damage and inflammation, in turn creating scars and a stagnation of healing. Therefore, to combat scarring, the best healing ingredients are anti-inflammatory and help to reproduce healthy skin cells in place of the damaged ones.
Here's a simple list of things that hold these properties and can help:

Rose Water:

is an anti-inflammatory which helps to get rid of acne. Can be found in our "Natural Rose Water & Aloe Vera Facial Mist".

Aloe Vera:

is an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, helping to kill and prevent the wider spread of microorganisms. Aloe targets the first layer of your skin (epidermis) where acne scars sit, helping to fade them.

Honey:

Argan Oil:

Castor Oil:

is antimicrobial and an anti-inflammatory. Also holds ricinoleic acid which prevents growth of the bacteria causing acne. Can be found in our "Hydrating Face & Body Lotion

Lemon:

is a natural bleach, therefore good for lightening scarring. Also regenerates your damaged skin as healthier cells

Remember that prevention is typically easier that cure, so don't give up your skin care routine as soon as you see results! That means it's working, and to maintain those healthy skin cells, you need to maintain your routine.
