Our skin is much more fragile than we realise. Of course, it does withstand quite of lot of punishment each and every day, but, it seems to try and bounce back as best that it can, especially if we do whatever we can to take good care of it.

There are lots of different problems that can arise with our skin and one of the most common is oily skin, But why does oily skin happen and what can you do to try and fix it?

Why does your skin become oily?

The oils that your skin produces is actually a good thing. It helps to ensure that your skin is as moisturised as possible. Not only this, but it also protects it from all the outside pollution and damage that can be caused each and every day.

Your skin has to produce these oils, called sebum every single day, however, the glands that are located under the surface of the skin, can, at times produce too much of this sebum, which will sit on top of your skin and cause it to look oily and make you more prone to blemishes and acne,

 

What skin care routines can you put in place?

One of the best things that you can do is to make sure that you use products which are designed for people with oily skin. You should also ensure that you clean your face morning and night as this will help to reduce the amount of oils that are left, building up on the skin. You can use water, but, if you really want to help to reduce the oil build-up, then you may want to use a micellar water to help to cleanse properly.

Just because your skin is oily, that doesn't mean that you should limit the amount of moisture that you give it, you still need to ensure that you use moisturiser, else the skin will dry out and then, to combat this, the glands will produce more and more oils.
