5 foods to avoid during the holidays to keep your skin glowing

Christmas is a great time of year, not only do you get to spend time with your friends and family, or at least we hope so this year with everything else going on. But we also feel much better about treating ourselves too.

Whilst there is no harm in being able to indulge yourself a little, the last thing that you want to do is be left with tired and dull skin. So, to help to inspire you to take proper care of your skin, we have put together our guide on the 5 foods to avoid during the holidays to keep your skin glowing.

Alcohol

Having a few drinks over Christmas is part and parcel of the celebration, however it is worth remembering that alcohol is not the best for your skin. Alcohol is going to dehydrate you, including your skin, which means that indulging in too much alcohol is going to leave you with dry, rough and older looking skin.

Deep fried foods

Another treat that you may want to enjoy over Christmas is everything that can be deep fried in batter. We all know that deep fried foods are not great for your overall health, however, what you may not realise is that all that grease will plug up your skin pores and it will also mean that your blood circulation around your body is slow too.

Coffee

All that socialising is going to leave you feeling drained, so it makes sense that you are going to want to reach for the coffee on a regular basis. This may be a great pick me up, however drinking more than two cups a day is going to damage your skin and will leave it feeling and looking dull.

Sweet Treats

Sweets should be a treat and this is because if you have too many of them then you are going to find that you are much more prone to acne. Acne can leave you feel self-conscious about the way that you look as well as taking away that beautiful natural glow.

Salty Foods

Salty Pretzels

Do you find yourself asking for the salty crackers, crisps or pretzels during all those amazing Christmas movies? Whilst these do taste amazing, salt is known to cause inflammation in your skin, which will leave it feeling inflamed, irritated and if it continues, even just a little on the sore side.

If you have over-indulged over the Christmas period, then don’t feel guilty. The good news is that there are always things that you can do to make sure that your skin feels amazing again. Why not take a look at the great items that we have in our store here at Care By Jords? You could treat yourself to our Hydrating Face & Body Lotion or perhaps our Natural Rose Water and Aloe Vera Facial Mist? Both of which are designed to help your skin to feel amazing every single day.
